Office Conversion For Former Golf Clubhouse Given Go Ahead
A redundant golf house in Wrexham is to be converted into office space, after councillors gave planning proposals for the development a green light.
Councillors have voted in favour of turning a former clubhouse at Darland Golf Club is turned into general office space.
In November 2014 Wrexham.com reported on the proposed conversion, which was described as a ‘modest’ change of use which ‘will make good use of an otherwise redundant building’.
The golf course itself closed in 2014 and the clubhouse has remained vacant since. Within the application’s accompanying documents it was noted that the clubhouse is ‘deteriorating’ and that a new tenant will ‘care for the building’ and halt the ‘deterioration and the decline’.
It is hoped that office space will appeal to small or medium sized businesses, as well as attracting local businesses which would otherwise commute further afield. It is not known how many employees will occupy the offices – however it is anticipated that it will be fewer than ten.
Speaking about the development, Planning Officer David Williams said: “The golf course itself has reverted to agricultural use and the development satisfies the criteria for office space.”
