Man arrested on suspicion of arson after flat fire in Wrexham

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a property in Wrexham.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident at a flat in the Bell Court area in Hightown on Saturday morning.

The fire has been described as “extensive” and members of the local community were asked by the fire service to avoid the area and to keep windows and doors closed.

A local man has since been arrested on suspicion of arson.

Wrexham Town Inspector, Luke Hughes said: “At 07:28hrs on Saturday 5th June officers attended a flat fire in Bell Court, Wrexham.

“On arrival it was apparent that the fire was extensive and had spread to a number of neighbouring properties.

“Subsequently a local male was arrested on suspicion of Arson.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are not seeking to identify anyone else in connection with this isolated matter.”
