Update: False Alarm! North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident was as a result of controlled burning in the area.

Emergency services had been called to a location in Minera following reports that something had ‘fallen out of the sky’ earlier this morning.

The incident was reported at 10:58am and there are also reports of lots of smoke in the area. However there is currently no confirmation as to what the incident might be.

A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service told Wrexham.com that two crews from Wrexham, two off road appliances, a crew from Buckley and a foam carrier are currently in attendance. The police helicopter has also been spotted circling above the area and ambulance also attended the scene.

A number of people have also been in touch to say that there is a lot of activity in the area, with ‘Taff’ tweeting to say: “Sounds like a major incident. Loads of emergency vehicles heading up Ruthin Road through Coedpoeth. Helicopters out as well.”

Elaine Whybro also tweeted Wrexham.com to say: “Anyone know what’s going on at The Wern, Minera? Lots of sirens-fire engines, police helicopter.”

Despite rumours circulating on social media that there had been a plane crash, a helicopter crash and an alien invasion – it turned out to be a false alarm.
