Each candidate has been invited to make a written statement as well:

“The true value of any place is its people and I am honoured to have received the backing of Wrexham people as their MP in three General Elections.

An MP should do their best to represent everyone in Wrexham, and I think it is very important to keep in touch with Wrexham people. I have lived, worked and brought up my children in the town. As an MP, I have run a weekly surgery in Wrexham, regular street surgeries, and question and answer sessions on social media – and on Wrexham.com!

Keeping in touch with people in that way – listening to people’s concerns, acting on them, and working on their behalf – helps you build up a picture of what the community needs.

That’s why I’ve spoken up for Wrexham when it comes to improving our transport links; bringing rail professionals together to build a case for improving the North Wales lines which serve our town. It’s why I’ve spoken out to challenge the Department of Transport and the Highways Agency about the problems with the A483. And it’s why I’ve pushed – and continue to push – for better communications links for Wrexham – both broadband and mobile.

Pushing for those improvements isn’t simply a matter of tweeting about the problem. I’ve met with OFCOM, with mobile companies, with infrastructure companies like BT and more. Shortly before the close of the last Parliament, one of the last things I did as MP was to contribute to a key consultation about the Electronic Communications Code – the rules which govern how communications infrastructure sites like masts can be developed, accessed, and repaired. As many in Wrexham will know, we’ve had long-standing problems with mobile signals locally and altering the code could help secure vital repairs quicker.

Boosting our communications infrastructure helps all of us – and is crucial for business. It’s important for our town that Wrexham keeps – and attracts – well-paid jobs. I’ve stood up to keep the jobs we have, spoken out when jobs are threatened, and done my best to help promote all kinds of Wrexham businesses.

The truth is that Wrexham needs those jobs. Wages have fallen and jobs are much less secure than they used to be. Recent figures have shown more than 5,000 people have used Wrexham’s food bank in the last year. The threat of cuts hangs over many of our local services.

The Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition has not been good for Wrexham. The town – and its people – need a change of Government.”

As the videos come out we would encourage you to share them to as many people as possible, analyse and discuss the content and hopefully get people to take part and vote in the election!
