A day of fun and celebration is to take place in the Town Centre tomorrow with the launch of the inaugural Wrexham Street Festival.

Tomorrow sees the launch of the Wrexham Street Festival – a trial event that will see stalls selling local produce, entertainment and fair ground rides in the town centre.

The event will take place across Hope Street and Regent Street, and is part of an ongoing initiative to revitalise the town centre and help increase footfall.

The festival has been set up and backed by a range of organisations, including Wrexham Council, the Healthy High Streets project, the Wrexham Town Centre Forum, the Co-operative, Wrexham Business Forum and many more. It follows a range of other events set up to help promote the town and to encourage people to visit Wrexham and its businesses.

A number of stalls selling local produce will also be available on the day, including Mrs Picklepot (Pickles & Spice and All Things Nice), Glitterbugz Bodyart, Handmade Jewellery and Estyn wellbeing.

The newly refurbished Arnold’s Bar and Grill on Egerton Street are also offering 20% off all food and drink on Sat 23rd May with a special voucher (which can be found here). Cupcake decorating and entertainment from Bitesize Theatre Group will also be provided.

It is hoped the street festival will become a regular occurrence in the town centre if the event is a success.

The event is one of several initiatives currently being introduced in the town centre and follows on from the success of a street clean-up which took place over the weekend.

Speaking about the event, Wrexham MP Ian Lucas said: “What’s great about so many of these events is that they involve local businesses working alongside each other to bring people into Wrexham. I know from having worked alongside those planning Saturday’s Street Festival that a great day is on the cards – so I’d encourage as many people as possible to pop down and get involved.”

Wrexham’s Street Festival will take place between 10am and 5:30pm tomorrow – and luckily, the weather is set to be a lovely 16C throughout the day as well.
