Residents in Hightown and Kingsmill were kept awake last night as the North Wales Police helicopter hovered over Wrexham.

We received a barrage of tweets at around 11pm reporting that the helicopter was flying very low around the area with spot lights on.

Mandy Jones (@mandyjones26) was one of the residents who complained about the noise, she said: “Would have more chance sleeping on the runway of Manchester Airport than Hightown at the moment.”

However, Kevin Pryde (@kevpryde) hit back and said: “these people wouldn’t be moaning about the helicopter being so loud if they were the ones that required it’s service.”

We asked North Wales Police what the helicopter was doing in the area but were told they could find no reason for it being there despite its obvious presence.

Here at Wrexham.com we would like to see the return of North Wales Police’s helicopter log which used to notify people of its activities, West Yorkshire Police have a good example here.

We recently ran an article detailing the helicopter’s activities and costs over the past year.
