Firefighters Tackle Large Blaze at ‘Disused Gym’ in Acrefair

Firefighters have tackled a large fire at a ‘disused gym’ in Acrefair this morning.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the large building fire on Llangollen Road, Acrefair at 3:45am this morning, with four crews called to the scene.

Earlier this morning Llangollen Fire tweeted to say: “3:45am we got called to a disused gym on fire on Llangollen Road, Acrefair. Four appliances are still on scene. The road is temporarily blocked.”

The stop message for the blaze came through shortly after 6am.

As a result of the fire the A539 Llangollen Road remains closed in both directions between Chapel Street and Bethania Road.

The cause of the blaze is currently unknown – however an investigation into the fire will now take place
