A fast-food restaurant will be playing classical music in the evenings in a bid to help deter antisocial behaviour.

It comes after Wrexham City Inspector Luke Hughes wrote to several businesses earlier this week.

In his daily update, Insp Hughes said: “I had a great response, with some imposing entry conditions.

“A well-known fast-food retailer will be playing classical music from 5pm in the evening, so unless we have some local and unruly Beethoven enthusiasts, it should discourage some issue.”

The remainder of Insp Hughes’ daily update and details of Wednesday’s city centre dispersal order can be found below:

Good afternoon. I hope you are all ok today.

I’ll start by saying thank you for the support and healthy debate I have witnessed on social media in relation to the dispersal order placed over a certain area of the city last night.

Of course, I’m going to tell you it was a success and put a positive spin on it. But I hope you know me well enough by now to known that you’ll get the truth from me, even if it hurts.

So, we did have a few issues last night, but there was a reduction in the demand we had faced over the last few days.

The most concerning incident was an allegation of assault on a member of staff at a retail premises on Island Green. Three individuals are suspected to have verbally abused and then assaulted said person. Three youths were detained nearby and follow up visits conducted at home addresses and with parents.

In total seven people were spoken to and given instruction to leave the area.

Whilst no dispersal order will be in place tonight, the same order can be invoked if so required.

There will however be a continued and increased police presence throughout this week, and I would again ask all responsible parents to give suitable advice to young people not to attend whilst we continue to address this issue.

In addition to the above of which I’ll keep you updated on, the last 24hrs has been steady and is outlined below.

08:19hrs – Numerous calls of a male walking in a snakeskin sarong on Ruthin Road. Concerns raised due to the weather. Male located and taken to a place of safety.

10:26hrs – Concern for an elderly female – possible fall. Safe and well check completed.

10:45hrs – Report of theft from building site on Wrexham Road. One of a few from this location. Further measures to be put in place to prevent future issues. Residents encouraged to contact us if they have any information, please using reference A011709.

11:26hrs – Stop search of a male found in possession of a Stanley knife. Dubious decorating excuse used. Matter will result in a court appearance, and we will see if the local magistrates agree.

14:15hrs – Report of problematic youths in the bandstand on Bellevue Road. Officers will attend and monitor the location. FYI problematic youths – please smile at the cameras as the quality is so good at that location that can identify the colour of your nasal hair.

14:57hrs – Report of shoplifting at a chemist in Plas Coch. Two males named who are very well known. CCTV to be recovered today – arrests will follow.

16:52hrs – Damaged window on Hullah Lane. No suggestion of any attempt to gain entry – stone or projectile.

17:00hrs – Dispersal order is live.

17:33hrs – Male once again walking in a snakeskin Sarong on Ruthin Road… Numerous calls received and well discussed on social media. Officers once again attend and recover to a place of safety.

17:44hrs – Intoxicated / disorderly female at large retailer on Holt Road.

17:59hrs – Assault on Island green (as discussed above).

18:23hrs – Intoxicated female (same one) causing issues in Pentre Gwyn.

20:18hrs – Concern for missing female – located safe and well.

23:10hrs – Concern for missing female (different one) – located safe and well.

00:46hrs – Anti-social behaviour on Abbott Street. Intoxicated female causing issues.

The End.

Have a great day all and take care.

Luke
