Rob & Ryan were formally presented with the Freedom of Wrexham this morning in a private ceremony at the Guildhall.

Wrexham Council did not publicly announce or refer to the ceremony, keeping the existence of the event secret from the public.

Barriers were delivered to Llwyn Isaf yesterday and in place today, along with several police to ensure security for the event.

We are told the Mayor Cllr Brian Cameron, the civic figurehead and ‘first citizen’ of Wrexham who acts and symbolises the link between the council and the people to represent the entire county borough in being ‘a symbol of open society’ made the formal presentation. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Councillors who have been vocal in their opposition to private meetings attended the event, however we are told some did not attend from the Conservative group, with the full attendee list – thought to be ‘below 40’ – to be confirmed and revealed in the fullness of time, along with details of those who were ‘looking for extra tickets’ for friends and family.

We can’t report on comments made, speeches given, what the award was, or what happened inside the Guildhall however a ‘Welcome To Wrexham’ documentary crew were in attendance capturing aspects of the event, with all eyes on Disney+ later this year to discover the details.

Outside the following snap was taken – showing Rob and Ryan arriving being greeted by Deputy Leader Cllr David A Bithell and a clearly delighted Council Chief Executive Ian Bancroft:
