Council Investigate Purchasing ‘Minor Interest’ In Racecourse Ground

One of the most interesting elements of the Wrexham Council Executive Board meeting today was to see what was on the future agenda. Indications point to the council looking to purchase a ‘partial and minor’ interest in the Racecourse Ground and they are actively exploring steps to do this. The agenda item is copied below:

Title: Racecourse Ground & Colliers Park Training Ground
Purpose: To provide an updated reporter ton the current position with regard to the grounds; to present the results of the independent valuation exercise on both properties; and to outline the route for procuring a partial and miror interest in the freehold of both property interests – as a partnership wit hthe other interested party/ies in order to secure the future of the Racecourse Ground as an international sports venue.
Date Due: 19th July 2011

There is however a chance that this may ‘time out’ with any possible sale of the club happening in the next few weeks rather than around the July/August timescale the Council appear to be working to.
