Police have released a CCTV still of a male wanted in connection with a “high value honey theft” in Wrexham town centre.

Last week it was reported that two jars of honey, valued at £62 each, were stolen from a shop at 3:41pm on (Thursday 11 August).

Inspector Luke Hughes has today released the above image of a man who he says is wanted in connected with “Operation Winnie the Pooh”.

He said: “The CCTV quality is excellent, why can it always be that clear? If you know him, can you contact us and quote 22000586744.”

As part of his daily update, Insp Hughes has also detailed multiple other call outs to town centre police in the last 24 hours.

Insp Hughes said: “Morning all, I’m pleased to report that yesterday was a non-eventful day in the city ☺️ – although that’s not to say we didn’t do anything.

We always have plenty to be getting on with but, in term of significant events, only those below to report.

Our quest for the outstanding stolen performance Golf continues. We think it is highly likely to be parked locally, so we really do need all your help to find it.

In the past these vehicles will be parked up in locations that they feel blend in, so be suspicious.

The below picture is a very close likeness to the actual stolen vehicle. If you see it, please report it ASAP – you could prevent some future serious crime. Thankyou.

We have a busy weekend ahead, Saturday see’s Wrexham v Maidstone with a 3pm kick off, and the return of Comicon on Sunday.

You will likely see some of our officers on patrol in the area of both, so please say hi, they don’t bite, we have a canine unit for that.

I really hope you have a great weekend and I’ll speak to you again next week.

09:42hrs: Call regarding a suspicious VW parked up on Rhosnesni Lane. Not the one we are looking for, but it had been involved in a recent incident and so recovered.

Thank you for the info. Let’s deny the criminals the use of our roads. I didn’t mention speeding, that’s a whole over debate, just criminals for now.

10:45hrs: I chair a Safety Advisory Group for the upcoming “Wrexham Feast” food festival on the 24th & 25th September. Sounds like a fantastic event, so look it up and hopefully see you there. Wrexham Feast – Wrexham’s Food and Drink Festival

11:19hrs: OCG shoplifting, Plas Coch. Named suspect from Birmingham has attended on the 16th and suspected to have stolen a large number of razors for re-sale, enquiries ongoing to collate incidents across the Northwest.

11:23hrs: Concerns for the welfare of a local male – located safe & well.

11:29hrs: Lilac Way – Concerns raised regarding a suspicious incident that occurred the previous evening in that area. Did you see two males, early 20’s? We have had reports that they may have been talking to locals and whilst they didn’t introduce themselves as police officers, their appearance and manner of behaviour may have implied this.
They could have been driving a red Citroen vehicle – any details please contact us and quote B124894.

12:35hrs: Concerns for the welfare of a local male – located safe and well.

15:05hrs: Regent Street – report of intoxicated male urinating in the street – arrested.

16:16hrs: Two young males, aged around 10/11 suspected to have stolen a Berghaus jacket from town centre store – if your little darlings come home with a new jacket, please query where they got it….

16:34hrs: Male arrested for assault – remains in custody and will be interviewed this morning.

19:33hrs: Deva Way – heated argument taking place between youths. Officers attend, follow up enquiries will take place by NPT.

00:50hrs: Vehicle fails to stop – remains outstanding.

08:00hrs: Reports of three premises targeted in the Overton Arcade – officers on route to establish what has happened, but it seems all three have been broken into during the night…

Incidents such as this make me incredibly angry, these are local small businesses and to be targeted in this way will really cause hardship and knock the confidence of other local retailers. It is a priority for us to follow up these reports today, CCTV and CSI as a priority.
