Original report: Sunday 3pm

A robbery has taken place at the Smithy View Garage this afternoon.

Police and ambulance crews raced to the scene at round 2pm with the police helicopter overhead.

It has been reported locally that two men, possibly armed with knives, threatened the garage attendant before making off with the till.

There was a heavy police presence in Pandy with several cars parked up at Gresford Colliery and a nearby estate as police hunted the robbers.

The top end of Plas Acton Road was closed off shortly after as door to door enquiries were carried out.

An eyewitness told us they saw a car pulled over on the northbound A483 with police on the nearby footbridge by Ty Gwyn Lane just after the police helicopter appeared overhead.

Several policemen were later seen in a field around Rhosrobin trying to locate the suspected robbers who were belived to be hiding nearby. Locally it is reported that the two suspects have since been apprehended.

There is currently a police forensic van, police cars and ambulance at the scene of the garage itself.

We are awaiting to hear back from North Wales Police for further details.
