Body Found In Woodlands Near Broxton Roundabout
We have received several messages enquiring about police activity around the Broxton Roundabout area yesterday and today with police forensic teams seen.
A man’s body was found late last night in an area of woodlands nearby.
Police and ambulances were called at 10.45pm after a member of the public found a man collapsed in a wooded area near The Egerton Arms. Police pronounced the man in his 50s dead at the scene.
At present his death is being treated as unexplained, forensic teams were seen examining the area for around 5 hours today.
The man’s next of kin have been informed and a post mortem will be carried out.
Cheshire Police are appealing for the member of the public who made the emergency call to contact themselves or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
UPDATE 11th July:
Cheshire Police can now confirm the identity of the man found deceased in woodland near Broxton as 58-year-old John Evans from Farndon.
Although detectives are not treating his death as suspicious, police are keen to trace a man who police believe may be a witness, who made a 999 call to emergency services at 11.20pm on 2nd July from a telephone booth on Chester Road, Wrexham.
Detectives are also making enquiries into a white Mercedes car seen in the Broxton area that evening and examining CCTV footage from the local area and believe this car may be connected to the man who made the 999 call. We urge this individual to come forward as a matter of urgency, similarly anyone who may be able to assist in progressing these enquiries should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 1116 of 2nd July.
