Beware of scam callers posing as Wrexham Council

Wrexham.com for people living in or visiting the Wrexham area

A warning has been issued following reports of scam callers claiming to represent Wrexham Council.

The local authority’s housing department has received complaints about the fraudsters targeting tenants in the county borough.

The scam caller claims to work for Wrexham Council and asks for personal details after discussing repairs.

In a statement on social media, Wrexham Council’s housing department said: “We want to remind you to not engage with any cold callers.

“Whether someone is some calling via the phone or door to door, we recommend that you do not engage.

“You cannot always understand their true intentions, so please be aware.”

You can report any scams or cold callers to Wrexham Trading Standards. More information about their work can be found here.
