Police are appealing for information following a serious assault in Wrexham last night.

The incident happened near the Ladbrokes betting shop in Lord Street at around 7pm.

A man in his 20s sustained a serious head injury after he and another man walking with him were involved in an altercation with two men.

Last night there were reports on social media that King Street has been closed as a result of the incident, with police directing traffic away from the area.

DI Neil Harrison of North Wales Police said: “This was a nasty assault in which the victim sustained a significant head injury. He is currently being treated in hospital in Stoke.

“His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

“I am appealing for information to trace two male suspects who were seen running off in the direction of King Street. Crime Scene Investigators have attended and we are currently viewing CCTV of the area.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Crime reference S034477.
