Almost 60 calls were made to town centre police in the last 24 hours, with officers dealing with an RTC, shoplifting offences and a car theft.

In Wednesday (29 June) daily police update, Wrexham Inspector Luke Hughes said:

The sun is shining as I type this, hopefully it will last, I thought last week that summer arrived; now I’m not so sure.

It appears we have two people in custody this morning, both arrested after a disturbance on Abbott Street just before 1am. I’m at a loss as to why anyone should feel the need to be jumping around and throwing punches whilst drunk on a random Tuesday night, far better to be safe at home in bed.

Sadly it’s likely that further arrests will follow after we have reviewed the CCTV footage, very frustrating and a waste of officers time dealing with this sort of behaviour, especially when you consider that at around this exact time a property was being broken into a vehicle stolen only a short distance away.

We had 59 calls for service yesterday, seems to be around this most days at present, a few incidents of note below. Just as a reminder I may not touch on everything, for example if there is a real risk of undermining an active investigation or if it could compromise any victims or witnesses.

10:38hrs: Report of theft – artificial plants stolen from town centre location – tasked out for CCTV review – looks like offence occurred at around 2am.

10:47hrs: Elderly lady states her and her husband are having a number of issues with ASB, most recently damage caused – priority task to NPT – reassurance and problem solving, no one should feel unhappy in their own home in our community.

Around midday – Information received that a missing 17 year old girl (from out of our force area) was in Wrexham, enquiries undertaken through most of the day until she is located at a residential address.

It appears that they were aware she was missing and did nothing. Officers will be taking action today and issuing a notice that will likely result in their arrest if they knowing allow her to attend the address or encourage her to abscond in the future.

14:58hrs: Report of three juvenile shoplifter in the town centre – have been challenged by staff and have run off after being abusive – follow up with parents and positive action ongoing, sadly not the first time they have come to police attention.

15:16hrs: Two vehicle RTC at Plas Coch roundabout, officers attend with ambulance, road closed for a short time whilst medical attention sough – no serious or life changing injuries.

16:36hrs: Call from distressed female – 7 year old child missing – priority call – all officers make – thankfully cancelled soon after when child located safe and well.

16:47hrs: concern for welfare – female not seen for some time and uncontactable – officers attend the address and gain entry, found unresponsive – immediate medical attention sought. Very grateful for the actions of the informant who had the presence of mind to contact us, likely prevented a tragic incident.

21:00hrs: Report of male walking on the railway line – caution issued on track – area search – no one located.

00:51hrs: Disorder – Abbott Street – two arrested – one male & one female.

01:59hrs: Burglary Dwelling – vehicle stolen with keys – enquiries confirm this happened at the same time as the disorder – vehicle remains outstanding.

It is a White Vauxhall Combo van reg DS70 HNU vehicle believed to still be local – please help us find it before it is used to commit further crime.
