MP1953ParticipantI passed Acton School yesterday and there were 5 year olds I would guess trying to kick a ball through 6 inches of grass ! the ball was hardly moving, is this what we have come to in Wrexham :(:(
Wrexham is being decimated :o:o
MP1953ParticipantYes I do realize now that it was not one of Denzils promotions, somehow though, us included a lot of people did not realize that fact before arriving last night, will be careful to check in future, as even although we were glad the night made some good money for the charities it was not what we come to expect from the usual Motown/Northern Soul nights. ;)
MP1953ParticipantI appreciate what you are saying Alunh, but the fact was the event was not a private function, it was a function that was open to the general public to support, and therefore I fail to see why tables were reserved, by the way we were not the only people who objected to this.

If you saw someone at risk of harm from eating- would you stop them? There is choice on both sides in both these situations. Very difficult dilemma.

Said it was controversial and clearly differing view.
Just a correction for JohnHoppy re public purse and walkers. There is actually very little public purse funding that goes to the various Mountain Rescue teams around the country as they are all volunteers who have to raise their own funds for rescue equipment. The Government only allows certain VAT exemption. There are of course the others services such as ambulance once the person/s have been brought off a mountain. Perhaps any one taking part in certain types of sport activity should have an insurance in place to cover any costs. Certainly if you have a car accident and require an ambulance you can expect an invoice from the Health Service to claim against the car insurance.
I also fully accept that some forms of obesity are genetic – I was really trying to highlight those that have a personal responsibility due to lack of self control on the types of food eaten and the fact that shops and manufactures add unhealthy ingredients to stimulate taste buds to want to eat more. You are not saying it was a serious thread/post are you ????
“perhaps everyone should adopt someone they think is obese and every time they are seen eating fatty/unhealthy foods should be permitted to take it off them!!”
“This is not about Big Brother removing choice” REALLY.

Controversy of the day!!
According to latest research one third of the population in Wrexham are obese with all the associated illnesses of heart, liver, cancers and many more. This shows more than ever that people are unable to control what they are eating or cant afford the right sort of foods and dare I say lack of exercise which will increase with less leisure facilities.
This is an issue we can’t blame the Council for but only ourselves — perhaps everyone should adopt someone they think is obese and every time they are seen eating fatty/unhealthy foods should be permitted to take it off them!! Clearly lots of people need help to change their life style.
A fantastic business opportunity for someone is to open a truly healthy take away and restaurant.
All chip shops and kebab houses should be closed.
This is not about Big Brother removing choice but why should all of us who lead healthy lifestyles have our taxes used to treat people with health ailments that are self inflicted (apology to those who have conditions that prevent control).
This really is one of those instances of everyone needs to get off their backsides (literally) and do something about this epidemic before their is no health capacity in the system to treat those patients who do not have self inflicted conditions.I think it should go further, there should be an opening or gate or something like, set at a certain gap and anyone who cannot get through the gap should be automatically exterminated…:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
MP1953ParticipantAs mentioned in the article, the demolition of the police station will leave the Memorial Hall very vulnerable to the same treatment !
Wrexham has a history of demolition but usually fails to put anything worthwhile it its place.. Deja vu

And just when I thought it was safe for us all to go back into the water!
I would have thought ( and dearly hoped) that now the Council Tax has been set for 2014/15, we would be spared (for at least 6 months), the interminable posts and endless columns of figures regarding ‘value for money’. My dog loves a bone, but at least it has the good sense to leave it when he has pulled all the meat from it.
It’s a done deal – get over it!!!!
With regard to Dylan’s comment regarding where the money has been allocated and is to be spent, there is a link quite clearly indicated on the bill, to facilitate those who have a yearning for such matters, to fill their boots. I would have thought that the majority of us are more interested in the bottom line, ie how much we have to pay.
Huff and puff all you want, but realise this, you won’t change a thing, but you are very likely to raise your blood pressure to a dangerous level.
All you say is correct BenjaminM but the fact is Wrexham is being decimated for future generations, and bear in mind not all Councils by any means are going down the same road as Wrexham, take Flintshire for instance..

Adam, interesting to know if you were in attendance last night? If you were then you will have picked up that the three recommendations I proposed for each of the three markets and approved by the committee members was exactly the outcome the market traders were after.
Also you will of picked up that the market manager is proposing to invest in chillers for the People’s Market, to allow the sale of fresh produce, which currently doesn’t happen because the temperature in the market is too warm. This in turn ought to increase footfall in that market. Surely this is preferable to closing down the current trader mix in the General Market, which was one of the options on the table.
For the record I am all for additional fresh food outlets in all three markets rather than seeing them concentrated in the General Market at the expense of the current traders operating from that market.
Cllr Phil Wynn
Nice to see someone who is either a Councillor/trader/Council Official or in any other relevant position putting his/her name to a post, thank you :)
MP1953ParticipantHow many people on this forum are ordinary members of the Wrexham public, because I get the feeling I am in the minority…:D:confused:
