MadManParticipantI am surprised Sainsbury’s hasn’t tried to take legal action against the council because according to the BBC they paid for the improvements to the road by homebase and argos. They must be upset that their customers will be unwilling to make such a journey and would likely use a competitor because of the disruption the one way system is causing.
MadManParticipantI totally agree with you they could have more people employed at the store i’m sure they could afford it, as it would hardly dent their profit. The service is terrible at Tesco the staff do not have to be all smiley smiley they just have to be pleasant lack of customer service is a real issue at this store.
Morrison’s is just as bad i made a stupid mistake on the self service tills i asked the woman for help and she was shockingly rude, she was very blunt and made us feel like a piece of dirt you find underneath your shoe. She is a very miserable older woman you will know who i mean if you have ever shopped there. Morrison’s self service tills are too slow and should be replaced, but it beats being served by a human, should be replaced by guinea pigs. I would avoid Morrison’s if it wasn’t for their chicken.
MadManParticipantWrexham Wikipedia page Wrexham – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is a popular site so i doubt you would include it and Calon FM Calon FM, as its not a commercial radio station.
MadManParticipantIf they integrated Eagles meadow into the high street better, as previously mentioned and the overall design was much much better and so many stores had not moved to the new development, we wouldn’t be criticising right now. It has been a overall disappointment, thankfully there are positives considering stores such as Debenhams H&M, Bank and Animal have come to Wrexham and the Odeon, Tenpin, Nando’s and Pizza Express has improved the leisure scene in the town, so without this development we may not have those jobs at Eagles Meadow that we have now, but i seriously hope that the town centre does attract more shops and leisure activities.
The artist impressions looked so much better than what we got, i think the McArthur Glen outlets such as Cheshire Oaks are an example of how the development should be in terms of design, therefore less imposing, with covering and free parking. Liverpool One(Not a great example, as Wrexham had more trouble with integrating because of the Wynnstay and Black Horse, the latter i would not miss) did a good job of integrating the development into the rest of Liverpool, it may have cost a lot of money, but it was obviously a much bigger development, which has paid off big time the only cause for concern is recently when they closed Central Station and people haven’t been visiting that part of the city, but Wrexham doesn’t have that problem.
Telford has not got that home town feel because it is not a traditional high street, but it is a day out like Trafford centre is.
MadManParticipantYou aren’t the only one like i said before we do lack quality eateries in the town and most would agree the Chinese buffet will unlikely be good quality, but the main streets in town do not have the right conditions for independent stores to perform well as the rent is too expensive and streets are run down. I would love if they took inspiration from places like Winter Park in Florida for design and types of establishments, but obviously we need it to be still affordable and still have the character of a Welsh town. At the moment people are grateful for the businesses that open in our town even though at the back if their mind thinking it isn’t ideal.
MadManParticipantSleepy Panda is not as good as it use to be and the other i was never keen on so i hope this one is lovely.
MadManParticipantBetfred is meant to be going there if it is approved we already have two i’m surprised another subway hasn’t gone there or gregg’s. The Cheque Centre is next to where Barclays use to be.
MadManParticipantInvestment in Wrexham is great to see therefore i hope it proves that it was still worth investing in the link road.
MadManParticipantSerious money needs to be spent on the town, but this 1.4 million needs to be spent wisely the street furniture in the town is dreadful therefore we know they won’t do a good job and it would be waste of money, the pavements in town are shocking they would only waste money if they carried out work on them, the only hope is that they improve the shop fascias. I gave ideas to the council on how to improve high street and other areas of the town but obviously they do not listen.
MadManParticipantAt Eagles Meadow it is £1.50 to park after 6pm gone up from £1 and now you can no longer buy parking for an hour not ideal for those just popping to the stores at Eagles Meadow, but considering there is a car park further on from Mecca bingo with free car parking from 12pm and an option to park on the side of the road Everland is on for 30 minutes it is great for the daytime, but as for at night i do not fancy parking there.
As for the rest of the town you have the option of the multi storey car park for free after 12pm if there are spaces available.
It could be a lot worse, but my only issue like the rest of the people on this forum is private car parks with Dunelm, Matalan and Staples they should not punish those people who are visiting the town especially during these times as they are hardly going to fill the car parks and therefore people who made their way specifically to shop at those stores are still able to park there.
