I like supporting local businesses regardless of where the owners originate from whether it is takeaways such as Chand (Gresford), Anise, George’s Plaice (Coedpoeth), The Gourmet Grills, La Baguette and Golden Harvest (Bradley). Shops such as the pharmacy Coedpoeth ltd, Am&pm and reps ‘n’ sets. Various local cafe’s including Priory Street Cafe. Butchers such as Williams & Son and Hughes butchers in the butchers market. MOT at a local garage rather than Halfords or National. It is much better going to independent businesses, as the service and quality is superior.

I like to cut down on shopping at the major supermarkets as much as possible.

The point of listing a number of places is to show that there are a number of different types of independent businesses around, while highlighting that the quality is better, in many cases the price is matched or cheaper and the service is better.

What made me laugh was that people went all the way to London for the Wrexham game to meet up at Wetherspoons afterwards, that doesn’t appeal to me at all, you may as well be at Wetherspoons back home.

I wish there was no such thing as wage deflation, but realistically you are right. However, the disparity between the rich and the rest of the population would be of much concern. I am not one of those people who will criticise people just because they earn a significant amount of money, it all depends on whether they have done a good job or not (regarding bonuses). I believe the country should prosper not a few individuals and at the same time ensuring that those job creators are not punished with steep taxes, but by no means should they be given tax cuts.

Personally i cannot see Wrexham reducing its reliance on the public sector while the manufacturing base is still there the obvious technological advancement over the years has reduced the need for workers. There needs to be more modern developments on the Wrexham Industrial estate. I was glad to see that the developers of the proposed Majestic Winehouse were hinting at building new properties on the estate according the Wrexham Leader. The Leader – News from Wrexham & Flintshire – Wine store and café plan for site of new Wrexham hotel I do wonder when the next phase of the technology park will get built it would be interesting to see what Wrexham can attract they have done well over the years with big and small businesses locating in various villages and on the Wrexham Industrial Estate.

You are right about creating businesses i think the idea of pushing people to work together and create a business is fantastic. It would be great if there shift in the mood of the country towards setting up a business.

It really is pathetic planning, but the wine will help, as it will help me cope with living here ;) While we could do with new buildings in the town that look appealing (this doesn’t look appealing), though we do need to start knocking down buildings in town and replacing them and if you let me start i won’t be able to stop ;)

I wouldn’t give the banks that much credit the low paid workers that we come in contact with are very friendly i agree, but i wouldn’t compliment the banks that much. Like previously mentioned it is the tactics which are really disturbing whether its a division set up by Barclays to avoid tax, Hsbc money laundering, the PPI scandal, etc. The media should be independent and working to change systems that are corrupt this is isn’t always the case though.

Events like Focus Wales are great (The date should be changed from 17 to 27), but as for smaller events on the weekend they could host a variety of performances nothing too tacky whether it be classical music, acoustic music and acts catered for children. This can be performed on the park in front of the council buildings weather permitting of course. Another idea could be to bring fun fair games to queen square for the day. Beer/wine testing days. Cuisine and culture days to celebrate different cultures in town. Anybody got any idease i know mine may prove too costly.

Rather tacky. I think it would be a great idea if there was a competition in the town to a proper beach in the Caribbean. This would give a poor soul a chance to escape for a week or two.

    * Karaoke competition -This could bring the old drunks to Queen’s square, Wrexham for a breath of fresh air.
    * Fashion competition – A chance to see the well dressed….maybe not
    * Arm wrestling competition – For those little ***** who think they are so tough.

£8,500 could go towards sprucing up the town every little helps.

Town has been quiet compared to previous years, which really makes me nervous as shops rely on the Christmas period.

I hope this is stopped, renewable energy – Wind, solar, tidal should be invested in. The future needs to be considered not any short teem benefits that may exist.

Mountain Warehouse at Eagles Meadow has closing down signs in the window. Card express looks like its a temporary store can anyone confirm? Is the Chinese expected to open next year? Any news regarding any new businesses coming to town?

Noticed a tweet regarding shopping in Wrexham, will this be addressed by putting on good events this year to attract people to the town? I noticed the light switch is on the 22nd November Wrexham Christmas Lights Switch On 2012 | Wrexham.com it says ‘with scores of musical and performance acts’ will this be all local musicians, which i will be very much in favour of or will it be some tacky bands/singers with no talent which we have had over the years. Any other events announced?
