Nice to see some in the community are keeping the old, local traditions alive.

I and my family have had connections with Llay all my life. I even attended Llay school and have now lived in the area for over 40 years. I am very proud of where I live and have always sung the praises of Llay from the roof tops.

How the hell can you make the above statement when they are trying to sell us all down the line, that is not keeping the old local traditions alive. I can only assume that you are one of them?

Nice post with feeling and common sense EJ01.

The point of the confusion over cut off dates are because they lifted the application of the site and reposted with a different date. We believe that the cut off date is as the planning posters (9th Jan 2015) but will try to get it extended. The council planning dept’ seems to give us a different date every time we contact them and the Community Council have been given even more dates to add to the confusion.

Just to clear up a few points:

The Woodlands Estates on Gresford Road was built on overspill land owned by the Llay Colliery Company.

The Land which is now Singret Hights was built was a Pig Farm owned by the Crewe Family (yes the same Crewe Family) and was sold to build on.

The Meadow Rise Estate was a field owned by the Crewe family (yes same ones).

The Barns at Home Farm were converted and sold by The Crewe Family once again for vast profit.

They have a reputation of buying agricultural land or buildings and converting into residential land without any thought for the locals or the heritage of Llay.

They have also bought a field on the Llay New Road and wont to have permission to build houses on there as well. There is enough Brown land in the area to use for buildings without destroying and removing the green barrier.

The application states that a Public Consultation has taken place, noting: “On Thursday 6th November MCA held a public exhibition at Llay Royal British Legion which ran from 4-7pm, We canvased the local area prior to the event and approximately 150 turned up to discuss then scheme and 104 filled out feedback forms or left comments.”

What chance have we got of getting to the truth from the architects if they can’t even count how many people turned up. We got twice as many people to sign our petition against this development on the night. They only did a leaflet drop on a very small number of houses and they admitted they only expected about 50 to 60 people there.

Odd thing today. When the planning office was contacted today they stated that the application was not complete and therefore could not be processed at the moment.

This evening the application has been lifted from the council web site, strange.

Just to put the record straight it’s 365 houses that they want to build in Llay giving us a total of 882 houses that some idiots want to build on this side of Wrexham.

Just has we suspected, the application for outline permission was put in last week (3rd December) but has taken a week to show up on the council web page. One week later and on checking we found that the Community Council and the local Councillors have not been notified yet even though the Llay Community Council are meeting on Monday. It’s the oldest trick in the book, if you want to slide things past the public then apply over Christmas when every ones attention is on other things and the Council Offices are closed.

So Captain C the owner of Numark Chemist was at the meeting? I thought they were a multinational outfit and I’m almost certain that they would welcome the extra revenue gained via prescriptions and sundries. Another invalid point…..

Numark Chemists are franchises and therefore the two women that were at the meeting are classed as the owners and they stated that they were very much against the development.

We formed an action group against this development because we approached by so many residents asking us to. If you feel that you are in favour of it then form an action group to support it and then we will compare numbers.
My comment of 100% against it is based on the FACT that nobody has come up to me and said they are in favour. There were so many people at the meeting at such a short notice because they were horrified that such a development was even being considered and if you were there then you have noted the owners of the chemist and the head teacher from the school.
