The theory of less sickness equals more money for wages is fine but in practice you need to look at the reasons for sickness. The NHS stats show that nearly a third of all staff on sick are still with Covid or other infections. The large majority are stress related due to the pressure that the staff are under – many are doing 12 hour shifts often back to back for 6 days many literally dealing with life or death, drunk and abusive patients, are just a few issues other people could not cope with no matter what level of wages are paid.
