How to shoot them selves in the foot.

Car parking charges will resume at Eagles Meadow, Wrexham from September 1st. In line with NCP’s COVID-19 operating procedures, payment can only be made via card and contactless devices until further notice.

The elderly and self employed will not be visiting there for a while then.

Elderly: Very often can’t or wont use their cards for small purchases.

Business Accounts using cards. They get charged by the Banks to make a purchase so will only use them for larger purchases.

I don’t know how many more nails in the coffin it will take. Eleven empty units already.

Eagles meadow is going to end up like Wrexham town centre full of empty shops.

Swings and roundabouts- the demise of Eagles Meadow ‘may’ lead to a shift of some footfall back to town but it is really a mighty big May. Christmas is certainly going to be dreary in Eagles Meadow.

It’ll get worse if Debenhams goes under. Unlikely I know but it doesn’t look good. Likewise Marks culling staff all the time. The 2 big units there are massively struggling.

Does anybody know if Nando’s is going to open? This would mean we will be left with Burger King, while Subway is part of the development you don’t really think of it being as part of Eagles Meadow.

I’ve only just realised both Frankie & Benny’s in Wrexham are closing.

Previously food retailers replaced some retail shops in Eagles Meadow but even they are closing now. Perhaps dividing shops into smaller units might attract niche independent shops , providing the rents were reasonable.

This is a chicken and egg situation – footfall brings investment and invest brings footfall but there is a cross over point were the only direction is downward. No business is going to invest unless there is a substantial base level of footfall with the hope of an increase- in Wrexham like many other towns this is not the case as customer are shopping more and more on line or there are so few shops and selection there is no use visiting shops as there is no selection.

It is very sad but time to accept that Eagles Meadow is likely to move into an all accommodation complex if Debenhams or M & S leave
