    So there are some Councilors suggesting that they take over Care Homes- this is a nonsense suggestion and shows total lack of understanding that the key issue is a shortage of staff mainly due to low wages.

    How would a Council run home suddenly get all these extra people going to work for them – are they going to give a massive pay rise and pension to entice workers. Where is all the extra money going to come from — will they start charging people more.

    I’m sure some people will say the private sector are creaming profits – look closely at their accounts the ‘profit’ per person is very small- the private sector need profit to reinvest-

    No easy answers but to try and restart a care home service that the Council got rid of just does not seem to make any sense and the sums dont stack!

    Rather than take over Care Homes the Council needs to pay them more , self funding residents pay hundreds of pounds per week more than those funded by the Council.

    Wouldn’t the employees get a council pension?
