Our health service in North Wales is already over stretched and struggling. This is partly because the backlog of work caused by Covid. How on earth is BCHB expected to make not only make huge savings in the region of £35 million per year for three years but also to find money to cope with the massive inflation in utilities, national insurance employer increase, wage rises, patient food inflation and the inevitable price rises in consumables from soap to bandages and beyond. The Welsh Government need to take a forensic view to their budget, pare down all vanity projects and concentrate funding first to our basic needs.

Pastylover – remove Labour Welsh Gouvernement – then what? Do you really think the current opposition Political Parties what solutions do they have- none of them have put forward any realistic plans for several failing Servcices in Wales such as Health, Social care, Education. Don’t forget many of these are controlled at Local Authority Council Members – these will be the rag, tag and bobtail group to be elected in May. No disrespect to individual people who are putting their names forward but how many have any idea how to spend a budget of over £150 million, manage a workforce of 4,000 and a Council that has had schools frequently in Special Measures and Social Care failing. Being a ‘do gooder’ or a ‘real interest’ in our Town.

There should be one IT system for the whole of the NHS ,UK wide, at present any tests done in Wales cannot be accessed by English hospitals and vice versa. Also NHS results cannot be accessed across to the private sector or private results available to NHS. All this unnecessary repetition is costly and time wasting. Single monthly prescriptions are also time consuming for GP’s , why not bi- monthly as a minimum for those on long term medicines or even six monthly issued to pharmacies and let them remind patients when a repeat is required. ( something adopted in some English health authorities). Developing better systems would go part way to achieving some financial savings.

Agree with the points, a single brand NHS but totally different not just between the four nations but often different quality of services in each hospital or GP. You would never get so much inconsistency in the commercial world – McDonalds, Burger King, etc — you know you could go into any branch and the product will be the same.
