The General Election 2015 is now over, and this is our archived page of our coverage.

Polling Day and Count:
Wrexham.com had a local first with not only live text coverage but a full six hour live video stream from the count, including instant reaction and preview interviews with some candidates.

You can view our live coverage from the count by clicking here.

On polling day we issued this plea for people to vote, with the weather also being mentioned here.

Finally around 24 hours after the polls closed we created this media coverage round up, noting how the result was given out in the local printed press and other outlets.

Election Build Up Coverage Below…

Welcome to our General Election 2015 coverage, ranging from full video interviews with candidates to ongoing on the night reports from the count! This is a rather long page, but is a one stop landing page for everything todo with the election locally…

how-to-vote
Polling day is Thursday 7th May 2015.

By now you ought to have your postal vote or polling card! Information on how to vote will be contained on them, with the important note that polling station locations may have changed. You do NOT need to take your polling card with you.

There are two PDF documents on the Council website showing the lists of polling station and locations – one for Wrexham is here, and the other for Clwyd South is here.

If you are voting at a polling station the polling hours are 7am to 10pm, so as they say in Chicago ‘vote early and vote often’* ;-) More seriously there were reports around the country of the odd queue at polling stations late on, so if you can vote earlier we would advise it!

If you unable to vote in person on the 7th due to a ‘medical emergency’ or ‘work reasons’ you can still apply to vote by proxy but you need to complete an application by 5pm on polling day – ring 01978 292 020 for the helpline. This is commonly known as an ’emergency proxy’, although on Wrexham’s poll cards this phrase is not used.

*It is an offence to vote more than once, unless you are voting on your own and as a proxy for someone else. You are not allowed to vote as a proxy for more than two people unless you are their spouse, civil partner, parent , grandparent, brother, sister, child or grandchild. You cannot vote as a proxy for someone if you know that by law they are not allowed to vote.

at-the-count
Wrexham.com will be live from the count, so for those who are interested in the results check Wrexham.com on the evening as an accompaniment to your Sky News / ITV / BBC News or other national coverage!
