Council Tax is a tax paid to the local council which is payable on all domestic properties. There is also non-domestic rates, also known as business rates, that is payable to the local authority.
Your council tax bill consists of three parts:
- a charge made for the council to pay for services they provide.
- a charge by North Wales Police
- a Community Council charge.
The council collects all these in one bill and then redistributed to the community councils and the police.
Depending on where, who and what you live in, the property will be assigned a ‘band’. These are currently from A to I , with A being the least! There is a full table on this page on the official Wrexham Council site.
The tax is a calculation split between the property itself, and also by who resides there. For example, if you live alone a discount is applied and if it is an empty house that section of the tax is not applied.
