A Wrexham band are set to mark their name on the global map when they play one of North America’s biggest music festivals in two weeks time.

Having captured the attention of the UK music industry and been championed by the likes of XFM, BBC Radio and The Guardian, The Roseville Band will play five shows in Canada as part of the prestigious NXNE festival, which takes place in Toronto.

2011 proved an extremely busy year for the band, seeing them successfully produce their second album Shake The Walls, the follow up to 2010s critically acclaimed Little Eyes In The Universe.

The album won the band the accolade of BBC Radio Wales ‘Single of the Week’ for their song Sister Silvia and saw them embark on a 20 date UK tour, which was followed by invitations to perform at a number of festivals including Liverpool Sound City, SWN fest, CMW, and NXNE.

Now with a growing UK profile and a third album in the pipeline, The Roseville Band have found new admirers for their music over in Canada.

Earlier this year they performed in Toronto as part of Canadian Music Week 2012, where they showcased alongside hundreds of acts from across the globe, including the likes of The Temper Trap, Slash and Martha Wainwright amongst others.

The experience brought the band to the attention of a number of senior figures from within the music industry in North America, culminating in an invitation to showcase at NXNE 2012.

This year NXNE is headlined by The Flaming Lips and with over 2000 music industry delegates in attendance gives the Wrexhamites a fantastic platform to showcase their music and help to take their career on to the next stage.

The trip is being supported by local music retailer The Music Place based on Brook Street. The Wrexham based musical instrument retailers have generously offered to provide the band with all their musical peripherals in preparation for the trip over to Canada.

Owner of The Music Place Paul Sturman said: “It’s great to see local musicians achieving success on an international stage and as we’ve always provided the band with their musical equipment, we’re very happy to support them with this.”

The band warm-up for the trip with a show at Yales Café Bar, Central Station, Wrexham next Friday 8th June. Doors 10pm with free entry.
