Come down the the Racecourse and watch some footballing legends take on some of the stars of the screen all in aid of charity.

Wat’s Dyke Fun Day

The summer fun day has plenty of stalls and games for you to try out.

Marford Fair

A fun-filled afternoon full of games, a bar and BBQ. Fun and games whatever the weather.

Cantorion Sirenian Singers’ Gala Concert For The Shooting Star Unit

This charity event will feature performances from Cantorion Sirenian Singers, Rhys Merion and musicians from the Royal London Colleges of Music. Alongside these acts Cathedral Organist John Hosking will perform an exciting and varied programme, which will finish with John Rutter’s Gloria, in a gala concert. The proceeds of which will go to THE SHOOTING STAR UNIT, Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

Fun Dog Show

Saturday Art Mash-up and Saturday Studio Sessions

Join artist Jo Marsh for a fun afternoon of arts and crafts in this mini art school. There are classes throughout the afternoon suitable for 7 – 12 year olds and for ages 13+.

Robotics Challenge Club

It’s time to unleash your creative talents in Techniquest’s brand new Saturday LEGO Robotics Challenge club. The science experience will be running a Saturday LEGO club that will set participants the task of building and programming advanced LEGO robots to complete lots of exciting challenges. From Saturday 18th May, there are 6 consecutive weekends for over 12s, using LEGO MINDSTORMS kits. The sessions are run as a series, starting with the basics and building up to more challenging activities as the weeks progress. Parents or guardians may either drop their child off at the centre*, or stay on-site for the duration. Any parent or guardian leaving their child at the centre must provide us with emergency contact details at the time of booking. This is event is suitable for 12+

This weekend event will feature a fantastic selection of quality food, drink and craft stalls in and around the Plassey’s event marquee! Over the two days local chefs will provide cookery demonstrations and local craftsman will also be showing how they make their unique crafts. There will also be plenty of children’s activities and the chance to win flight tickets for a ride on a hot air balloon.

The Little Big Band Fundraiser

The Little Big Band will provide an evening of musical entertainment while you can enjoy a glass of Fairtrade sparkling wine (or sparkling fruit juice) reception. The band has an extensive repertoire including classics throughout the 1930s, 40s & 50s (including ‘Mack the Knife’ & Rock Around the Clock’) right through to exciting arrangements of modern tunes (such as ‘Feeling Good’ by Michael Bublé). All proceeds will raise money for local charity TCC. There are limited tickets are available on the door, and advanced booking is recommended.

Baby and Children’s Market Nearly New Sale

This event includes free Children’s sport sessions from A-Star Sports, colouring table and Darren Roberts Photography are bringing their pop up studio and offering 8×6 prints to take away on the day for just £10! Tiny Comforts will also be in attendance offering beautiful baby gifts and there will be opportunities to talk to Turtle Tots, Baby Sensory and rhythm time. Limited number of stalls available

Multi-Skills Dragon Sport

A new way of teaching children the skills for a life in sport is set to give Welsh youngsters the same sporting start as in countries like Australia and New Zealand Dragon Multi-Skills and Sport will focus on embedding basic skills – such as agility, balance and co-ordination – that give the essential building blocks, before moving on to playing a specific sport. This is event is suitable for anyone aged between 6 and 11.

Penycae Recycling Action Day

This event will look at how the community of Penycae can have a positive impact on the environment by recycling more. Including a re-Use area where you bring items you no longer require and friends and neighbours take it to re-use in their homes Recycling opportunities on the day include: Wood – Cardboard & Paper Cartons – Hard Plastics – Furniture Electrical Items – Scrap Metal Re-Use Area – Clothing Collection. There will be skips located at Bronallt, Afoneitha and Penycae.

Guided Tour of Bersham Ironworks

Find out more about John Wilkinson, his life and his love of iron through a guided tour of Bersham Ironworks. Led by experienced volunteers the tours are held the last Wednesday of every month, 2pm-3pm. Meet at Bersham Heritage Centre and you will then walk to the Ironworks site. For those of you who don’t fancy the walk, meet at the Ironworks. Please bear in mind the Ironworks is an open site, with steep banks and steps. Please wear sensible footwear!
