Smithfield Youth Club presents…. On The Edge! by the award-winning Kepow Theatre Company.

Fresh from a sell out world tour to Canada, America, New Zealand and Hong Kong, On The Edge! will visit Smithfield youth club this winter. Starring Kevin Tomlinson, On The Edge! explores all those moments in life when we are on the edge. Falling in love, leaving home, getting a job, bungee jumping, you name it, this show explores it.

Young people from the youth club have been taking part in the Arts Council Wales Young Promoter Night Out scheme which encourages young people to engage with the arts and their community through theatre. This show is also brought to you in association with Caia Park Partnership and Wrexham County Council.

“Hilarious improvisation! Compelling and profound – a must see show!”

Over the past 21 years Kepow have produced 25 shows and have, in the process, won a “clutch of awards” (the Independent on Sunday). These include: the Sunday Times Playwright Award and the Rose Bruford Trust Directors Award.
The company have toured the world, performing in: Hawaii, New Zealand, Canada (three times), America (twice), Hong Kong (twice), Singapore, Germany, Norway, Bali and Holland. They have, collectively, worked with some of Britain’s leading theatres and theatre companies: the National Theatre, the Royal Court Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

About the project:
The Arts Council Wales Night Out Young Promoters project aims to encourage young people to engage with their communities and the arts through theatre. Through a series of around six workshops participants will: choose a show suitable for their community and book it; set the date, time and ticket price; devise a marketing plan; create online marketing such as an advert for YouTube, a Facebook event page and other social media; write to various media; sell tickets; present to community groups; manage the box office on the day; invite local VIPs.

Many of the promotion and event management skills learned during this project can be transferred into everyday life as the goals are centered around creativity and literacy.
This project is also part funded by the regional council’s Arts Development Team.

About Night Out/Noson Allan:
Night Out/Noson Allan is an Arts Council of Wales scheme that helps local volunteer promoters put professional performances in village halls and other community venues across Wales. This project is designed to help young people benefit from the scheme, as well as take details of Night Out to their local community for possible future shows.
