The annual ‘Music in the Park’ series of concerts returned to Bellevue Park yesterday.

The free events organised by Wrexham County Borough Council, Parks and Countryside Service in partnership with the Friends of Bellevue Park, are now into their 11th year. In total there are five Friday evening concerts, all starting at 7pm, featuring a range of acts, ranging from Jazz to Rock.

Each year hundreds of people sit on the grassy banks to watch bands perform at the Edwardian bandstand in the park.

Last night Jazz quintet Billy Thompson Gypsy Style performed a mix of Hot Club numbers made famous by Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt, fiery Hungarian tunes and gypsy anthems.

They are followed on Friday 5th July by Wall Street Krash, Mudslide on Friday 19th July, the Black Jacks on Friday 26th July and finally on Friday August 2nd by the band 0151.

The concerts are free and no booking is required. For full details of all the concerts please contact Bellevue Park on 01978 264150.
