Saturday saw the launch of Creative International, a month of art activities in Wrexham that will run until Saturday 11th May.

The event was launched alongside Print International at Oriel Wrecsam on Saturday 13th April. For the next month, Wrexham town centre will transform in to an exciting exhibition space throughout the month that everyone will be a part of.

Throughout April and May, arts events will be taking place all over Wrexham; including Oriel Wrecsam, Odeon cinema, the markets and an empty shop in Wrexham town centre with Focus Wales and Print International being two stand out events.

Creative International development worker, Siân O’Connell said: “Creative International is bringing together arts events all over Wrexham County Borough, bringing a larger audience to the arts activity and bringing arts to the community. These events are all very exciting and showcase the huge talent we have here.”

Run in partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council,  Focus Wales, THIS Project, Print Centre at Yale College, emptySPACE and Rampant Dragon, the event will cover many areas of art. This included dance, installations, community exhibitions, photography, music, print and live art including live screen printing through artist in residence this year Osian Efnesien (http://www.flickr.com/people/newphysics/).

Arts Manager of Wrexham County Borough Council, Steffan Jones-Hughes said: “I’m delighted to see a re-invigorated arts scene in Wrexham coming together to provide a month’s programme of top quality world-class events. Wrexham has a strong identity as a place of creativity with many exciting visual artists and musicians, but we also have real talent in all areas of the arts.

Creative International is an opportunity for everyone to take part and enjoy, to engage with the arts. From international printmaking to pop superstars, from dance to opera and art in unusual places, the next four weeks in the county promise to have something for everyone. Get out and get involved!”

There are various volunteering opportunities during the arts month including Yarn Bombing Wrexham town centre to invigilating exhibitions, all ages and abilities are welcome to volunteer. Please contact Siân O’Connell at [email protected] for more information and to volunteer.
