The fourth and final Wrexham Year of Culture programme has been completed this week and is now being distributed across the county borough.

The programme contains over 155 events taking place in the Wrexham area during the next three months, and there’s something for everyone with events ranging from comedy to jazz, and ballet to Wrexham’s Champion Sausage Competition 2011.

Amongst the big stars on show will be Andy Parsons, star of the BBC’s Mock the Week, Al Murray, Britain’s best known pub landlord and the actor, adventurer and author Charlie Boorman who will all be starring at Glyndwr University in the coming months.

Looking forward to December the programme includes all of Wrexham’s Christmas events such as Father Christmas’ Frosty Lantern Parade, the Wrexham Christmas Market, Breakfast with Father Christmas and The Wrexham Christmas Light Switch-on.

The Mayor of Wrexham, Cllr Ian Roberts said: “As this is the last edition there are two things I want to say, first of all Wrexham Year of Culture has been a huge success, boosting attendance at over 500 events and helping to showcase Wrexham to the outside world by attracting visitors and media coverage.

“Secondly a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved, without you, the Year of Culture wouldn’t have happened. Wrexham has a lot to offer, so take your pick of the events lined up in this programme and give them a shot, and if you like what you get, tell the world about Wrexham!”

Whether you are a Wrexham resident or a first time visitor to the area there are plenty of interesting events in the programme for anyone who wants to sample the rich culture, diverse arts and the inspirational heritage that the town has to offer.

You can pick up your copy of the programme from Wrexham Tourist Information Centre or alternatively download a copy from https://www.wrexham.gov.uk/english/leisure_tourism/year_of_culture/
