Location: Airbus Broughton

Date: 15 October 2015

Time: 9am

Details: (Part of Inside Welsh Industry from Welsh Government)
Around 100,000 jobs are generated in the UK by Airbus wing work, both directly as well as indirectly through an extended supply chain of over 400 companies.

The Single Aisle (SA) Programme represents the main driver of the Airbus business with an extremely strong upward demand from customers into the future. The Wing Assembly production system at Broughton in the UK needs to be updated to stay ahead of the game

With no off-the-shelf technological solution readily available, Airbus has initiated an extensive development project to look at “Step-Changing” the existing system with new automation and next generation tools, coupled with the latest thinking.

This is critical to secure the UK’s position at the forefront of Wing Assembly and to also establish Broughton as the compelling choice for wing manufacture.

This IWI visit will give delegates an insight into the evolution of the ‘next generation of manufacturing’ and a chance to learn about the operations of this global player.
