Communities First is holding a Junior Golf Festival at Bellevue Park, Wrexham for over 50 youngsters from across the Communities First wards in Wrexham, which include Plas Madoc, Gwenfro, Hightown and Caia Park.

The festival will take place on Thursday 21st July 2011 and is the culmination of a six-week golf and life skills programme run by Empowering Youth Foundation across the six Communities First wards.

Its aim is to bring together children from across Wrexham to compete against each other whilst having fun.

Amongst the attendees will be Mayor of Wrexham Cllr Ian Roberts and other local dignitaries who are due to arrive at 1pm.

All participants attending the golf festival will have completed the six week life skills and golf skills programme prior to the festival.

The progressive programme is based on the nine core values inherent to the game of golf including honesty, integrity, sportsmanship and confidence.

Dawn Roberts, Executive Director of Empowering Youth Foundation said:
“I am very excited for our first event in Wrexham and to watch how the youth use the skills that have learnt in the last six weeks.

“This is a great opportunity for the parents and other local people can come together to see our work in action, and I look forward to introducing other young local people to the programme in the near future.”
