North Wales Crusaders youth and junior section are launching a brand new under 11’s team.

Weekly coaching sessions for the age group have already started, and the squad will be aiming to play their first friendly fixtures within the next few weeks.

The new team hold two coaching sessions each week, with the first taking place on Bradley playing fields (opposite Ysgol Bryn Alyn) at 6:30pm on a Thursday evening.

A second optional session is held on a Wednesday evening, starting at 6.00pm, at the Queensway Stadium, Wrexham.

New players are welcome to attend one or both of the sessions.

The team welcome all new players, regardless of any rugby playing experience, who are currently in year five or year six of primary school.

Each training sessions will concentrate on developing the core skills of rugby league as well as a high degree of game time and fun, small sided games and drills.

The new team will be coached by Allen Jones, a hugely experienced Rugby League youth and junior coach. Jones had taken time away from the game, but has now returned to take charge of this new and exciting opportunity.

Speaking about the new side, Jones said: “I have to give Andy Moulsdale a huge amount of credit for giving me this opportunity.

“After taking some time away from the game, Andy has always remained in touch and encouraged me to return when I felt ready.

“The first few sessions with this new group have gone extremely well, and I am excited to see where we can take this team over the next few years.

“The group is about a dozen strong at the moment, but we want to grow the group through the coming months and years and attempt to replicate the success of our current under 18’s squad, who have been together as a group for the past four years.”
