North Wales Crusaders RL have launched their 2014 Crusaders Cup Competition for schools.

Working in partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council Sports Development and Wales Rugby League, the scheme is open to primary schools who received coaching sessions under the Council’s Rugby League Development programme.

The Development Programme was designed as part of a planning to develop Rugby League prior to the 2014 Rugby League World Cup.

Rugby League Community Coach, Allen Jones, said: “The feedback on the primary school competition has been great to date with a take up on invitations running at 35% at the moment.”

The competition will also be mirrored in the Flintshire County Council area.

Over the course of the event there will be Qualifying Fesitvals in each county, along with an Inter County Finals Day.

A separate competition for Secondary Schools has also been launched.

Mr Jones adds: “Rugby League is a growing sport in the Wrexham area on the back of the World Cup and the success of the North Wales Crusaders.”
