From today a company will be patrolling the streets and parks of Wrexham looking to issue fines to those dropping litter or letting their dogs foul.

Kingdom, a environment protection company, will have ‘officers’ on the streets and parks throughout Wrexham who will be handing out £75.00 fines on the spot to anyone who drops litter or who refuses to pick up after their dogs foul.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “We all want to see a cleaner and greener Wrexham yet there are those who refuse to acknowledge that we all have to play a part in making sure we get one.

“Those who refuse to clean up after their dogs foul or who drop litter are now at a greater risk of being handed a £75.00 fine, there will be no warnings issued as the time has now come to clamp down hard on those who continue to offend.

“Those who pick up after their dogs foul or don’t drop litter have nothing to fear about the new arrangements.”

The Council also remind people ‘Dog foul should be bagged and put into any general waste bin. Litter should be taken home and binned or put into any available litter bin.’

Wrexham Council outsourced the work to Kingdom as the council only managed to issue 21 tickets last year, however depending on how things pan out around 8 tickets a day could be issued under the new pilot contract.

Previously Wrexham Council Leader Mark Pritchard told Wrexham.com : “We want to improve the cleanliness of the Borough. If you do not let your dog foul or drop litter you have nothing to worry about. The people of Wrexham are not bothered if it is issued by the private sector or us, they want the dog fouling to stop.”
