Throughout February there are plenty of events taking place in libraries across Wrexham. So why not pop along and support your local library.

Café Europa On National Libraries Day

Wrexham Library staff are going continental with their latest fundraising effort in aid of Cancer Research UK. From 12pm to 3pm on National Libraries Day, Saturday 8th February 2014, Café Europa will be open for sale of cakes with a European twist. The event will be fun for children and parents alike, with live European folk tales and a prize raffle as well as  cakes, tea and coffee, supported by Europe Direct Wrexham. Children can take part in a fancy dress competition with prizes which include Wrexham Waterworld family ticket, free DVD hire as well as many others! National Libraries Day – 8th February

As part of the Café Europa fundraising day at Wrexham Library on Saturday 8th February there will be an exciting fancy dress competition for children. Children are invited to dress as their favourite character from a book, particularly any written by a European author or anything they choose. The judging will take place at 2pm and the winner will be announced with the prize giving ceremony taking place at 2:30pm. The Café Europa event is part of National Libraries Day which includes a European themed cake sale, storytelling at 12:30pm and 1:30pm and a prize raffle and all ages are welcome.

Free Replacement Library Cards

Libraries in Wrexham are also offering free replacement membership cards on Saturday 8th February to celebrate National Libraries Day. So if you have lost your card please bring in proof of name and address and you can get a new card for free. Anyone who isn’t a member and wishes to join can do so for free, again by bringing in proof of name and address.

Are You Restricted To Your Own Home?

If you are disabled or have difficulty in getting to your library, then the library could possibly visit you in our own home. The Homelink Library van provides access to the whole range of library and information services – providing a monthly collection of books, including large print books for partially sighted people, audio books, CDs and DVDs. If you or another family member is unable to visit the library, why not contact us to see if you qualify to receive a home visit by the library? Enjoy A Good Puzzle?
If you like a good puzzle and have some free time then visit Cefn Mawr library as they attempt to solve yet another Jigsaw puzzle. When one has finished they start another so there is always one for you to try. For more details contact the library on 01978 820938.

Story And Rhyme Times

Did you know that many libraries have story and rhyme times for young children and toddlers? If you live in the Ruabon area you could take your children to the Rhymetime at Ruabon library held every Tuesday (term time) 2pm-2.45pm. Alternatively if you live in the Gwersyllt area then why not visit the library there for storytime every Friday 2.05pm – 2.35pm. If you struggle to get to a branch library then why not visit Wrexham library every Tuesday 2pm – 2.30pm. For more details contact your local library, there may be one near you.
