Looking for something to do? Debbie from Wrexham Library has kindly provided us with a list of events that are taking place across Wrexham’s libraries this month.
Storytime at Overton Library
Storytime at Overton Library is held on a Friday morning at 10.30am every two to three weeks. The group consists of mums and carers and children from newborn age to school age. They read all sorts of stories, and their absolute favourite is ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Helen Oxenbury. They also sing songs and rhymes and sometimes the older children sit and do some colouring. After all that activity it’s time to relax and have a drink and a snack which is followed by another story and song and everyone heads home happy and content. For more details on how to join this session please contact Overton Library on 01978 710557.
The Summer Reading Challenge is now live
This children’s book based website is for any child who is interested in books. It has many fantastic facilities from a book sorter, reading club, competitions, games, author of the month and lots more.
Your child can even keep track of their reading, all he/she must do is create their own profile. Then they can submit details of the books they have borrowed and read from their local library. To find out more call into your local library and speak to a member of staff .
You can access this brilliant website, www.mythical-maze.org.uk from any of the following libraries: Brynteg, Cefn Mawr, Chirk, Coedpoeth, Gwersyllt, Llay, Overton, Rhos, Ruabon or Wrexham FREE of charge, or from the comfort of your home. Good luck and happy reading!
Get ready for the Summer Reading Challenge!
The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. Children’s reading can ‘dip’ during the school holiday time and the annual Summer Reading Challenge helps gets three quarters of a million children into libraries to keep up their reading skills and confidence. There is a different theme each year, this year it’s the Mythical Maze. Children can read whatever they like – fact books, joke books, picture books, audio books – just as long as they are borrowed from the library. You can sign up your child at any of the following libraries in Wrexham County Borough: Brynteg, Cefn Mawr, Chirk, Coedpoeth, Gwersyllt, LLay, Overton, Rhos, Ruabon, Wrexham or our Mobile library. Then all your child needs to do is read six library books of their choice, collecting rewards such as stickers along the way and a medal and certificate upon completion, and all of this is FREE.
