Wrexham’s Homebase store safe from closure

Wrexham’s Homebase store is safe from closure, it has been confirmed this afternoon.

The Wrexham branch, which is located on Plas Coch Retail Park, is not amongst 42 of the DIY stores earmarked for closure.

This morning the struggling company announced that it would be closing underperforming stores via a CVA (Company Voluntary Agreement) – putting around 1,500 jobs at risk.

The company was bought from Australian owner Wesfarmers by Chicago headquartered Hilco for a nominal £1 earlier in May.

Homebase which has two stores in North Wales – the second being in Mold. Neither are listed on the closure list published this afternoon.

Homebase has 241 stores and 11,000 employees. However so far 17 stores have closed this year and over 300 jobs have been axed from its Milton Keynes head office.
