Wrexham’s Historical Overton Arcade Reopens For Business
A historical Wrexham Arcade officially reopened this morning, with the help of a local business.
Elite National Recruiters, who have been based on Temple Row in Wrexham town centre for the past 18 months, decided to expand their business into one of the arcade’s units in the hope it will inspire others to open there.
In an attempt to help others see the potential of the arcade, Elite have opened up a meeting space in the former barber shop within one of the arcade’s units.
Elite National Recruiters Managing Director, Emma Albertini told Wrexham.com: “Everyone in the office felt it was a total shame when the solicitors in the Arcade closed down. We all thought if someone doesn’t do something about it, the arcade will get lost forever.”
The opening of the arcade was attended by Wrexham MP Ian Lucas, Mayor T. Alan Edwards and Mayoress Glenys Edwards.
It is hoped that the reopening of the arcade will encourage local businesses to see the potential of the location and hopefully open up their business there.
Emma Albertini said: “I remember when I was a child the arcade was full of shops and cafes, it had a real buzz about it.
“While we were opening the arcade this morning, there was a local businessman who said he is interested in opening a wine shop in the arcade. We want people to use the arcade and get footfall in as much as we can.”
Both entrances to the arcade will now be open Monday – Friday from 9.30am and 4.30pm, enabling pedestrians to use the Arcade as a cut through to the town centre.
