Wrexham traders are delighted that Wrexham Council have introduced free parking, after 12 noon, in two car parks.

Free after midday is to encourage people to visit town!

The People’s Market multi storey and Crescent Road are now free to park in after midday. There has however been complaints that they have failed to flag this up to potential users. A Wrexham.com reader got in touch to tell us:

“There is nothing at the entrance to the multi-storey to say it is free from noon nor anything on the large tariff board adjacent to the entrance. In fact the only thing telling you it is free from noon is a small , 2 inch by 5 inch piece of paper sellotaped to the pay machine, saying press green button for free ticket after 12 noon. This is in complete contrast to the information displayed in the adjoining Chester Street car park where there is a huge 2 foot by 2 foot yellow and black sign explaining that there are new charges. This refers to the extended charging period at full rates from 5p.m to 6pm . Followed by the introduction of a flat 50p charge from 6 p.m. till midnight. These extended times also apply to the other car parks in the town. Do the Council want the free parking to be used? If so they need prominent signage, at least of the same standard as those warning of the extended charging times.”

Do you feel more could be done to highlight the new ‘free after midday’ parking in certain carparks in town? Were you aware of this initiative ?
