A Wrexham woman has today been sentenced for arson with intent to endanger life, following an incident in Ruabon last summer.

30-year-old Aimee Janine Griffiths from Ruabon was today sentenced at Mold Crown Court for arson with intent to endanger life following an incident at her home in Ruabon on 27th August 2014.

Griffiths was sentenced to 5 ½ years’ imprisonment.

Investigating Officer DC Mark Griffiths at Wrexham CID said: “The sentence reflects the seriousness of the incident, in which the lives of two young children were put at risk. Had it not been for the swift actions of neighbours, the events of that night could have ended tragically.

“I’d like to thank members of the public who assisted both on the night and during the course of this investigation which was both complex and distressing and I’d also like to add my thanks to the Crown Prosecution Service for their guidance in the case.”
