Wrexham Street Festival Gains Momentum With Plans For Halloween Event
A street festival in Wrexham has been praised ‘for gaining’ momentum after a recent event saw hundreds descend on the town centre to take part in a recent event.
The Wrexham Street Festival, which was held on September 26th was the third of its kind to take place and saw hundreds of shoppers and visitors descend on the town centre throughout the day.
Over the past few months work has been undertaken by a team of volunteers and members of the Town Centre Forum to help generate footfall in the town and create a positive and vibrant atmosphere.
As the Street Festival has grown and expanding across the town, more businesses have got involved – with many pop-up and home businesses using the event as an opportunity to trial trading in the town centre.
Speaking at this morning’s Town Centre Forum, Chairman Nigel Lewis said: “The whole idea behind festivals is to create an experience, but not to the detriment of the shops that are already there.
“Issues that caused problems previously were the location of the fair and fast food in the street – we’ve taken that on board.”
Plans are currently underway on expanding on what has already been put into place and throwing a Halloween themed festival on Saturday October 31st – with visitors and shop owners encouraged to embrace the theme and dress up.
A Facebook invitation for the event was set up on Sunday night and already has more than 700 people saying they will attend – which has already surpassed those who did similar for previous Street Festival invitations.
