christmaslights Wrexham Set For Christmas Lights Switch On

Wrexham’s festive celebrations will kick-off in style tomorrow with the big Christmas lights switch-on.

The event will take place on Queen’s Square and promises to be a fun-packed evening for all the family.

The festivities will kick-off at 4pm with music from Calon FM then Ant and Al from S4C’s Stwnsh will entertain the crowds from 5.45pm with plenty of hilarious competitions and fun.

Next on stage will be Out By Sunday, winners of Wrexham’s first Street Entertainment Festival, along with Liam Conwy, aged 10 who won Chicago Rock’s Kids Got Talent 2011 competition and Malcolm Wareham, aged 21 who won Chicago’s Voice 2010.

Finally Wrexham will be lit up by Andy Scott Lee (3SL), Dale Howard of Big Brother Fame, Alison Crawford and other members of the cast from the Stiwt Theatre’s Cinderella Pantomime who will turn the Christmas lights on at approximately 6.45pm.

Throughout the evening there will be refreshments on sale, children’s fair ground rides and the Rhos Christmas Star Chorus will round off the evening with a short performance.

This event is one of just many Wrexham Year of Culture events that have been organised throughout 2011.

The Mayor of Wrexham Cllr Ian Roberts said:

“As this is the last quarter of the Year of Culture programme there is obviously a distinct festive flavour to the events.

“This final programme is your last chance to dive in and try something new and experience a wide range of events and activities in one sitting.”
