The Guildhall has been identified as ‘the most appropriate alternative location for both the Electoral and Registration Services’.

It is suggested that the ‘current members lounge be utilised by the Registration Service’, with the current members lounge being moved upstairs. With one member referring to the lounge as ‘dark, dingy and uncomfortable’ we are hoping it will get a lick of paint first – see our report on this here.

In order for the move to the Guildhall to take place a venue for wedding ceremonies is needed, and has currently been identified as using the current Legal Library and Council Chamber itself.

There is proposed refurbishment of the civic reception area of the Guildhall and Council Chamber itself, which ties in with this proposal as it will ‘provide an attractive environment for members of the public accessing registration services’.
