Wrexham Primary School Removed From Special Measures
A Wrexham Primary School has been formally removed from ‘Special Measures’ by Estyn.
Bwlchgwyn County Primary School have received a formal notice from Her Majesty’s Inspectorate for Education and Training in Wales Estyn, that the school has been removed from special measures due to their efforts.
The school has had three Estyn follow up visits following publication of the Inspection report in December 2013, the last being 11th and 12th November 2014. The report of that visit states: “Bwlchgwyn Primary School is judged to have made sufficient progress in relation to the recommendations following the core inspection in October 2013.
“As a result, Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales is removing the school from the list of schools requiring special measures.”
Headteacher Susan Williams said: “We would like to thank parents for their patience and support over the past twelve months. For the school to come out of Special Measures in this relatively short period of time is testament to the professionalism, dedication and determination of all staff and Governors, who have worked together tirelessly, and have supported each other through some very difficult periods.
“It is heartening that these efforts have been recognised by Estyn Inspectors.”
Gwersyllt North Councillor Michael Williams said: “I am delighted at the progress that has been made at Bwlchgwyn Primary School. It is quite an achievement for a school to be removed from Special Measures in such a comparatively short space of time.
“As a Local Authority, we have supported the governors, the Headteacher and staff at the school throughout the past year and we would wish to congratulate all those people who have been instrumental in securing such excellent progress.”
