Wrexham.com can exclusively reveal the olympic torch celebration plans for Wrexham this morning.

The arrival of the Olympic Flame in Wrexham will be marked with a spectacular party on Llwyn Isaf when the torch arrives on Wednesday 30th May.

Entertainment on Llwyn Isaf will start from 7am with street entertainers, BMX tricks and ribbon dancers.

Once the flame arrives at 7.40am there will be special performances on the stage including body popping, Hula Nation, the Morgan Llwyd School Choir and local band Heal the Last Stand.

A troupe of performers, the Flame Followers, will arrive ahead of the flame in an ice-cream van to excite crowds with a unique fusion of street performance, theatre and sport.

The flame will leave Llwyn Isaf at 8.10am, however the fun will continue on the green until 10.30am. There will be stage performances, as well as local school children taking part in sporting activities.

Wrexham.com will be bringing you live coverage of the event and we were the first local media organisation to reveal that the torch would be coming to town and to announce details of the torch’s route through town.

Helen Paterson, Chief Executive of Wrexham Council said: “With London 2012 just around the corner there is a lot of excitement building across the country. We are very excited to welcome the Olympic Flame to Wrexham and we hope that people will turn out to see this once in a lifetime event.

“The Llwyn Isaf celebration is a real community event and there will be something for everyone to enjoy. We also have some exciting events planned for when the torch arrives at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which we will be announcing shortly.”

Please note that the Library, Waterworld and Guildhall car parks will all be closed on the morning of the Olympic Torch Relay and will reopen at approximately 9am. Chester Street will also be closed from 7am-9am.
