Wrexham Maelor Hospital has missed 4 hour Accident & Emergency waiting targets, posting the lowest figures in Wales.

Due to concerns on processing and response times around New Year we enquired and reported on the figures for the first week in January, which showed performance against waiting time targets in the first six days of January was 63.65%. The target is 95% of patients within four hours.

The figures represent people spending less than 4 , 8 and 12 hours in A&E from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge.

New figures released for the whole of January show the overall figure was 65.8% for those there less than 4 hours, against the target of 95%.

In January there were 4,966 people attending the Accident and Emergency department, with 3,269 there for less than four hours.

85.7% were there inside 8 hours, 92.2% there for under 12 hours with the figures indicating 389 people were there for over 12 hours.

Figures for 2014 were in the 80%+ bracket until May, with a drop through to 65.6% in December.
