Wrexham has been ranked in the top 100 UK towns believed to have the highest number of people having an extramarital affair.

In figures released by ‘Illicit Encounters’, the UKs ‘largest dating website for married people, it is believed that 523 in the Wrexham area are involved in an extramarital affair.

The statistics are up on the number of people having an extramarital affair in the county, with 498 people listed in last year’s list.

The figures have been revealed on the ‘Infidelity Index’ website, which maps out the cheating ‘hot spots’ of the UK. From this you can type in your postcode or town and the site maps out how many people are having an affair in your town and also in the surrounding areas.

For example in a map of North Wales, Wrexham has the second highest number of people having an affair – with Rhyl taking first place with 641 people believed to be cheating.

Llandudno takes third place with 377 people having an extramarital affair. Right down at the bottom of the North Wales cheats table is Porthmadog with only 43 people.

Overall Wrexham has been ranked the 56th cheating hotspot in the UK, which is down slightly on the county’s position of 47 last year. However only towns with a population of over 50,000 are ranked in the list.

Across the country Beeston, Livingston, Maidenhead, Taunton, Runcorn; Newcastle-under-Lyme, Guildford, Farnborough, Bracknell and Loughborough have been listed as the towns having the most extramarital affairs.

This isn’t the first time Wrexham’s ‘affairs’ have made the news, with it being locally reported a few years town had been named as one of the UKs ‘dogging hotspots’. Amusingly our report on this story still gets a fair amount of page views. You can find our story here.
